We’re Laura & Daniel and we’ve had a small business in the coastal village of Lynton, Devon since August of 2020. During that time, we’ve been working intimately with producers and curating flavours from across the region and beyond, always on the lookout for something truly special. Over the years, as our knowledge (and love) for great food and drink grew, so did a spark of an idea: what if we created something of our own?
Something local. Something bold. Something with a story to tell.
It had to be a rum. But not just any rum — it had to be smooth, rich, and easy-drinking, the kind that people would reach for again and again. It had to feel like us: fun, a little different, and full of character.
That’s how Scape Goat Rum was born.
Inspired by the ancient ritual of the scapegoat — and the mischievous wild goats that roam the Valley of Rocks, just a stone’s throw from our doorstep — we created a spirit that’s full of flavour and steeped in local myth. These goats have lived along our rugged cliffs longer than we have, surviving storms and scaling impossible rock faces like it’s nothing. We couldn’t think of a better symbol for a rum that dares to be different.
Scape Goat Rum is more than just a drink. It’s a nod to where we’re from, who we are, and the stories we love to tell.
We hope every bottle brings a little taste of Exmoor’s wildness, warmth, and whimsy into your glass.

Our first release, a Premium Caramel Rum, is crafted to be a true crowd-pleaser — 25% abv so it’s smooth enough to sip neat, bold enough for cocktails, and always ready to steal the show. Currently available in 70cl bottles – we have been asked for bigger bottles!!!
