Christopher Piper Wines

Christopher Piper Wines was established in 1979 by Chris Piper (Chairman) after working in Beaujolais, as a wine-maker in Brouilly.

In 1980 he was joined by his old friend John Earle (Managing Director) and the business flourished.
From those early days when the two friends did virtually everything, from wine buying to selling, packing and delivering their wines, the company has now grown to become one of the West of England’s best known independent wine merchants, now employing 20 people, and delivering with their fleet of vans all over the West Country and beyond. Chris still manages to make wine in Beaujolais every year at Chateau de Vaux, and, yes, they sell it.
The philosophy with which Chris Piper and John Earle started their business is still enshrined in the company’s ethic: Top quality products backed by top quality service.
Although our principal business is the supply of top quality wine to independent hotels, restaurants and pubs throughout the South of England we have an ever-increasing number of private customers, purchasing via their excellent website.

Claire Roberts joined the CPW team in 1995 having worked as a chef in Burgundy, France and Australia, but more recently having followed  her passion for wine by working at Oddbins, where she gained the WSET Diploma.

She specialises in food and wine pairings for her trade customers, advising some of the West Country’s top restaurants.

Wonky Horn

Wonky Horn is the new name for Westcott Organics.

Things have been progressing on the farm since our first longhorns arrived back in 2015.  Since then my family and I have farmed 250 acres on the edge of beautiful Exmoor on our family farm, Westcott Farm. As well as farming chickens, large black pigs and Exmoor Horn lamb, we have a prized herd of over 100 Longhorn beef cattle, which graze on the grasslands of this part of rural West Somerset. All of this is now processed in our on farm certified organic butchery.  The animals are taken to a certified organic abattoir and then once aged are brought back to the farm to be processed by our master butcher. This short journey of less than 25 miles means minimal stress to the animals whose welfare is at the heart of everything we do.We only supply our own products which makes us pretty unique. You know when buying produce from the Wonky Horn you have complete traceability from farm to table, with the knowledge that the animals have been raised and cared for with the highest levels with the best welfare and dignity that they could have had.Over the years we have built up many loyal customers.  You can  buy from our butchery shop on site and we also offer a mail-order service.
